My name is Alison Day and I’m a qualified ‘Relate’ trained counsellor based at Marriage Counselling Maidstone. I’m a member of the BACP (British Assocation of Counselling and Psychotherapy) with over 9 year’s couple counselling experience . I use an ‘integrative approach’ when working with couples, individuals and families. Which means I draw upon a wide range of therapies in order to suit each individual couple.
Couple counselling can offer support at challenging and difficult life stages. It can help with communication, managing conflict, processing and releasing the build up of emotional resentment. Furthermore, it can help you find new ways to connect with each other.
I have a warm, empathetic approach and provide a supportive environment, using practical interventions, to help to promote positive change and enhance understanding. This will help you build strong foundations and increase awareness of what the strengths are in your relationships as well as focusing on the difficulties and areas for potential change.
I will help you explore the challenges you may be facing and assist you in developing more effective communication with eachother. This will help you to find hope and a new way forward, in whichever way you choose.
I work diversely and have experience working with mixed cultures, same gender relationships, families and friendships – any relationship can cause stress and conflict. However, with the right help and support these issues can be resolved.
I subscribe to and work within the UKCP code of ethics and the BACP ethical framework. I also undertake regular professional development and supervision as well as having professional indemnity insurance.
